Monthly Favorites: April 2015

Welcome to my first ever Monthly Favorites post. I mentioned here that I was switching from Monthly Round-Up posts to Monthly Favorites. I hope that you and I like Monthly Favorites better than Monthly Round-Up! To be honest, I really never liked Monthly Round-Up which is super weird because I am the one that came up with it. Favorite Post
I think that my favorite post would have to be Spring Wardrobe Essentials. I had a great time linking up at the Your Spring Style Link-ups. They were so fun! The reason why this post was my favorite is because it really shows my style, what my wardrobe looks like, and my essentials for Spring.

Favorite Outfit
My favorite outfit for April is this one because I feel that it really shows what I am really wanting to wear right now which is casual and comfortable. It is also super cute! Plus, I had a great time coming up with a baseball inspired outfit for Fanatics!

Favorite Bible Verse
My favorite Bible verse this month is Lamentations 3:22-26,31-33 which says, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.' The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. ...For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone." It is my favorite verse because it is so very true! It really reminds me that God is good, and whatever happens to me happens for a reason even if we may not understand what reason yet. It also really shows the character of our beautiful, amazing, perfect God!

This outfit is one of my favorites because the contrast of the peach and black. I love wearing outfits that have good juxtapositions. The eyelet on the sleeves is so adorable, and it also contrasts with the edginess of the black skinnies. I also love how peach is the only non-neutral in the outfit, and because of that, it pops against the neutrals.

Happy Tuesday! I am pretty excited because, not this coming Tuesday, but the next Tuesday (May 12), I will be posting my first Style Snippets post. What is Style Snippets, you ask? Style Snippets is a new series that will be about style tips and ideas. It will be every second Tuesday of each month. I will post my first one on May 12, as said above. I will have more details about the first post on next Tuesday. Be sure to stay tuned!



I mention all the time, but I mentioned here especially, that I really, really, REALLY love t-shirt dresses. They are the most comfy, and versatile dresses out there! I was in Kohl's one day scouring the clearance racks, and when I saw this gem, I knew that I had to get it. It was cheap, cute, comfortable, and a great addition to my closet. That's a win in my book!

I am always looking for new ways to wear both my leopard scarf and my jean jacket, so I thought that they would look adorable with this coral dress. Add a pair of wedges, and you are good to go!

These wedges are my favorite to wear because THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE! I wore them the other day to a choir practice that I had that was from 9 am to 3 pm, and my feet didn't hurt a bit when I came home. I totally recommend buying a pair of comfortable wedges (especially brown ones) because they will go with so much. It is not even funny how much they will go with!

Happy Monday! I hope that you had a great weekend! Mine was lovely! I really enjoyed a nice little break from all of the craziness of the week.

Today, I thought that it would be nice to join Lauren at Fizz and Frosting for her weekly Mix It Monday link-up posts. I have linked up in the past. You can see the posts that I linked here and here

I have worn this sweatshirt two other ways just like last week's Mix It Monday post. I wore it with my white jeans here, and layered with a button down here.

I love, love, love this sweatshirt, partly because it is lace. Lace is just so pretty and feminine, and it adds interest to any outfit because of its texture. I also love this top because it is navy which is my second favorite neutral (grey always comes first, of course :) ), and one of my favorite colors. It is also extremely comfy.  Plus, it is a basic, so it will go with pretty much anything.

I really enjoy remixing different pieces! It is fun to make tons of different outfits with the same piece/s. That is one reason why I buy lots of basics so that I can wear them many different ways and get the most bang for my buck.

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday! I know, I know. This is really late, but I do have a good excuse. My excuse? I was at a church from 9:00 to stinking 3:00. So that is why this post is so late. Now, onto my top five for this week:

1. I had the amazing opportunity to get to team up with Fanatics which is an online retailer for all different kinds of sports apparel, to bring you guys a really cute, functional, and fun sporty chic, baseball inspired outfit. Fanatics has a variety of apparel like hats, shirts, jerseys, hoodies, etc, for a plethora of sports like football, soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, NASCAR, you name it, they have it. 2. This week wasn't that busy at the start, but for some reason it just really snuck (is this a word, is this not a word? Thoughts?) up on me. On Thursday, I was pretty busy and I felt like I was plunging deeper and deeper into the water, and couldn't get up for breath. But the funny thing was, I wasn't nearly as busy as I had been a few months ago before stuff really got less stressful. But by the Grace of God, I was able to change my perspective to how much I have already done, and not on how much I still had left to do. I ended up getting almost everything that I wanted to get done, finished. Thanks God! You are my Peace!

3. For some reason the only outfit formula that I have really been gravitating towards is loose top + skinny jeans + flats, and maybe a sweater sometimes. I don't know what it is, but if you see me out somewhere, I'll most likely be wearing a variation of this.

4. On Wednesday, I wore my new palazzo pants in a super cute way that will be coming to the blog hopefully soon (I'm a little behind on outfit pics). Total side note: I was talking to someone the other day and saying how I wish that the weekend was like five days long, instead of two. Wouldn't that be great?

Sporty Chic

Happy Wednesday! Since it is baseball season, I teamed up with Fanatics, an online retailer for all different kinds of sports apparel, to bring you guys a really cute, functional, and fun sporty chic, baseball inspired outfit. Fanatics has a variety of apparel like hats, shirts, jerseys, hoodies, etc, for a plethora of sports like football, soccer, hockey, baseball (obviously), basketball, NASCAR, you name it, they have it. Literally, they have EVERY sport that you can imagine.

The best part about Fanatics is that it is online, so you don't have to worry about driving really far away to get to a store. It is extremely convenient. Fanatics also has easy 365-day returns.

Isn't this outfit adorable? I love it! I chose to use a t-shirt dress because I absolutely love them (SO COMFY!), and because they are so functional and versatile. The grey color also makes it very easy to remix. You could wear this dress millions of ways. It's that versatile.

The cropped denim jacket is perfect for a baseball inspired outfit because, duh, it's Spring, and you guys know all about those chilly Spring breezes.

I have had my eye on sneakers for a while now partly because they are everywhere. Also, they are very comfortable, versatile, and you can wear them with anything. And who doesn't want an excuse to wear something that is not only functional and comfortable, but cute too? The red color adds the perfect pop of color. Plus it matches the baseball cap super well.

I added a necklace to the mix because I literally can't leave the house without wearing some piece of jewelry. Isn't it the cutest, simplest, perfect-est, necklace ever?

And the baseball cap is the icing on the cake. It, a). shows team spirit, b). keeps the sun off your face, c). adds even more interest to the look, and d). is the perfect cover up for messy or dirty hair.

This outfit is great for baseball games, running errands, hanging at the park, chilling with friends, every occasion that you could think of (besides weddings or fancy events, of course). Don't say I didn't warn you if you can't stop wearing this outfit! I just know that you'll want to wear it every day.

Spring Inspirations

Happy Tuesday! I am so happy today! Why? Because after countless days of rain and gloomy weather, TODAY IS SUNNY! I am looking out my window right now, and enjoying the beautiful, cloudless sky!

Today I am linking up with Anne at In Residence, and Shea at Shea Lennon for their Your Spring Style Link-up. Your Spring Style is a link-up that they have been doing every week this April, showcasing their spring transitions, spring essentials, spring inspirations (today's), and spring celebrations (next Tuesday's). When I look at my Clothes board on Pinterest, I see a lot of grey, interesting patterns (especially stripes), street style looks, and effortless, simple, all-neutral outfits. Like I mentioned here, I am really gravitating towards all-neutral looks.

This outfit was inspired partly by my Pinterest board, but also inspired by Kacie from Elements of Ellis. I was inspired by her all-neutral looks. She always looks so great in them, and I wondered if I could pull it off. So, then I came up with this outfit. 

Some might think that all-neutral outfits are boring, but I think the opposite. When you wear textures, patterns, and details like buttons and embellishments, the outfit cannot be boring. It becomes interesting when you add those things. Accessories also add interest to outfits.

I am also really gravitating toward loose tops + skinny jeans + flats. I don't know what it is, but all I want to wear is that outfit formula lately.

This is the third way that I have worn this button down. Obviously, these three ways are not the only ways to wear it! It has so much more potential than that!

The day that I wore this was rainy and very wet. I chose this outfit because I knew that it would be cute, but also functional in the rain. 

My favorite thing about this outfit is the jewelry. I love how they add some sparkle and dress it up a bit. The other two ways that I wore this button down were more casual, while this one is a little bit more dressy. It would be perfect for church, work, or just another day!

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday, guys! I hope that you've had a great week and that you have an even greater weekend. Check out the five high points of my week:

1. On Tuesday, I didn't have a post planned, so I spontaneously decided to post my Spring Wardrobe Essentials, and I linked up with Anne at In Residence and Shea at Shea Lennon. 2. Lilly for Target is coming on April 19th! Who else is excited? I can't wait to get some cute stuff! You can view the full lookbook here. I won't be heading out there on Sunday when it comes out, but maybe a couple days later. I just hope that the selection isn't all wiped out!

3. On Wednesday, I joined Tif at Bright on a Budget, Jaclyn at Beauty and the Binky, Rachel at Garay Treasures, Becky at BYBMG, Alyssa and Tracy at Glitter + Ruffles, and Jill at Doused in Pink for their first How I Style It link-up. 4. I went window shopping Wednesday to check out some swimsuits. Some are cute, but the majority are immodest and waaaaayyyy too skimpy! Plus, some of them are pretty expansive! I am going to check out the Lilly Pulitzer ones at Target when it comes to the store. 

5. This week has been pretty uneventful, but in a good way. It hasn't been very stressful, or too busy. It has been great, especially after having a few very busy weeks!

I entitled this post "The Forgotten" because when I was cleaning out my closet, I found this sweater. I realized that I had not worn it at all during the Fall/Winter season. So, when we had one of our cooler days, I knew that I had to take that opportunity and wear it. 

I have loved this sweater ever since I got it a few years ago. when I was looking for a tunic type sweater, so I was very surprised when I realized that I had forgotten it. Most of the time, I wear it with leggings or skinny jeans so that the slim pants balances out the loose-ishness (made up word of the day #1) of the tunic.

I love this color purple! I think that yellow, turquoise/aqua, red, and green would look great with it! And of course, grey!

This is how I style colored pants. I usually like to go all neutral, or mostly neutral so that the pants can shine with all of their bright, beautiful glory. Other, very rare times, I go bold and wear a color that is bright and on the opposite side of the color wheel.

While I like wearing lots of bright colors, I feel that I am somewhat outgrowing wearing lots of bright colors in one outfit. Recently, I am loving pastels, and all neutral outfits. I feel that they (meaning all neutral outfits) look chic and put together, and that they make a statement while still being understated. Now, this does not mean that I will completely outgrow lots of bright colors. Rather, I may even grow back into them, but right now I'm really feeling pops of color, and not tons of color in one outfit.

I love wearing my colored pants, and you will definitely see these in the near future. :)
