High Five for Friday- Halloween and Fall Edition

Happy Friday!! Today, I thought I would do a Halloween and Fall edition of my regular High Five for Friday post. This post is kind of a mish-mash of Fall and Halloween related things each of which I can't write a whole post about.

1. My favorite Halloween costume that I've ever worn (I don't usually celebrate Halloween that much, but I did go trick or treating a little bit and I went to a few Halloween parties when I was younger) was when I went to a Halloween party as Lucy from I Love Lucy. I had a polka dot dress, and an apron, and my hair was up in a fifties inspired up-do.

2. My favorite Fall treat is probably caramel apples, or apple cider. I also really like pumpkin food. I just really like fall food. :)

3. The Fall nail polishes that I love this year are 'Nirvana' by Sinful Colors, 'Lavender' by Sinful Colors, this brownish mauve and this nude from LA Colors, and 'Mod Mauve' by Elf. Apparently, I am really into brown, purple, and nude. I also really love these Jamberry nail wraps called 'Ohm'.

4. For Halloween candy, my favorite is Snickers, Mnm's, or Candy Corn. Obviously, I can't pick just one. :)

5. My favorite Fall scent is Pumpkin Pecan Waffles from Bath and Body Works. It isn't new this year, I think it came out last year, but I just love it! It smells SO GOOD!

That's all!

What about you?

ONE

I love this look because of the juxtaposition of the classic lace tee with the edgy booties and leopard.

TWO

This outfit is unique because I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I ended up loving it. It was inspired by a pin that I pinned on Pinterest.

THREE

This outfit like the first one combines edgy and cute elements. I love how it is almost a completely neutral outfit.

FOUR

This dress was much too short to wear by itself, but with leggings it makes the perfect fall outfit. :)

FIVE

Similarly to number three, this outfit is almost all neutral. Also, it is super comfy.

I love my black ankle booties and have worn them many other ways that just weren't documented.

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was amazing! Mine was so good! More about it on Friday. :)

I love my graphic tees. They are so versatile and super comfy. I wear mine a good bit, but sometimes I need a little help styling mine. I like to look on Pinterest for some really great style inspiration. Are you a blogger looking for style inspiration? Maybe you are looking for another place to promote your style posts? Yes? Well, I have just the thing for you! I have a style inspiration group board on Pinterest just for you. All you have to do is email me at mybowsandclothes {at} gmail {dot} com to join, and then start pinning to the board either your posts, or others' posts that inspire you. I would love it if you would join me!

My favorite part about this outfit is how neutral it is. Neutral outfits are some of my favorites because of their simplicity. They are simple, but definitely NOT boring!

What do you love about this look? What do you think about neutral outfits?

High Five for Friday: Five Fall Pieces That I Can't Stop Wearing

Happy Friday!! My week went really well, but there wasn't much to note, so I thought that I would show y'all five fall pieces that I can't stop wearing:

1. Leopard Flats
I had these last year, and I wore them with almost every outfit. The case is the same this year. They are my go to shoe.

2. Military Jacket
On Tuesday, I showed you 2 ways to wear a military jacket. I have worn it so many times already. I keep coming up with outfits with it, but I can't wear some of them because I can't wear it every single day! :)

3. Button Down
This button down hasn't made an actual appearance on the blog yet. I just got it sent to me from Brandzaffair. I will definitely have an outfit post with it soon. Anyway, I love it, and I am constantly reaching for it.

4. Black Skinny Jeans
I know that flares are coming back in, but I just can't get on that train yet. I have worn skinny jeans for a while, so it is too much of a stark contrast for me. I will wear bootcut jeans, but my black skinnies are definitely a go to.

5. White Sneakers
I just purchased these white sneakers, but I have worn them so many times already. They are casual, cute, and comfortable. Plus the go with lots of my other clothes. I love them!

15 Things That I Will Never Do

Happy Wednesday, y'all! Let me tell you: the weather has been so perfect. It actually feels like fall! It is so exciting! Today, I thought I would talk about some things that I will never, ever do:

1. I will never bungee jump or sky dive. That's just way to scary and dangerous.

2. Work at something that doesn't make me happy. There is no point in doing something without passion.

3. Compromise my beliefs.

4. Stop doing what I love.

5. Stay angry at people. Life is way to short to hold grudges.

6. Eat a bug.

7. Watch horror movies. I am way too much of a wimp. :)

8. Wear a bikini. For me, it's just not modest.

9. Get a tattoo.

10. Get anything besides my ear pierced.

11. Focus on other people's flaws.

12. Tell someone they aren't pretty or talented or loved. Because they are.

13. Wear so much makeup that it does't look like "me" anymore.

14. Wear a fashion trend just because it's a "trend".

15. Finish a book I didn't like.

That's all! Stay tuned! Next week, I am going to post 15 things that I want to do.

What are some things that you will never do?

2 Super Cute Ways to Wear a Military Style Jacket + a link up!

Happy Tuesday!! I hope your Monday wasn't too horrible. Mine started out a little shaky, but by the grace of God, it got a whole lot better. Today I am co-hosting Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me Link Up for Rachel, and I am sharing with you a couple of ways that I have worn my new military style jacket. Side note: this particular jacket is out of stock, but I added a couple of jackets that are very similar below.

ONE

Outfit details:
Top: Old Navy (similar, similar)
Jeans: Old Navy (similar, similar)
Jacket: Old Navy (similar, similar)
Shoes: Target (similar, similar)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (similar, similar)

For this first outfit, I added a bright coral top and leopard flats to my military jacket. The bright coral really pops against and brightens the olive of the cargo jacket. Using bright coral is a little unexpected, and I like that. Add your favorite flats and your good to go.

Other colors that are unexpected and will pop against the military style jacket are: canary yellow, turquoise blue, watermelon, orange, and medium lavender.

Necklace: Charming Charlie (similar, similar)

For this outfit, I chose to go with less color. I love how the charcoal grey looks with the olive of the jacket. Add a beautiful pop of periwinkle, and you have a gorgeous color combination. This outfit just screams fall to me. I don't know what it is, but monochromatic looks with hardly any color are my favorites right now.

What about you? How would you wear a military style jacket?

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good.

I wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago. I had been looking for the perfect black jumpsuit for a while, so when this one was on sale, I had to snatch it up.

Before I got the jumpsuit, I knew what I would wear with it, and I had a couple of outfit ideas, but when it came time to wear it, I was kind of at a loss as to what to wear with it. Isn't that how it always goes? You have an idea, but when you actually need to use it, you can't remember it.

Anyway, I ended up coming up with this outfit. At first, I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I really like it now! :)

What are your thoughts? How would you style a jumpsuit?

High Five for Friday!

Whew! As I mentioned here, this week was pretty busy and I wasn't expecting it at all. Naturally, I am super excited that it is the weekend! Check out the five high points of my week:

1. On Saturday, I went shopping for a couple of new fall clothing items. I didn't need a lot, but I did get some white "converses" (they look like them, they just aren't converse brand), a striped maxi dress/maxi skirt/midi dress, and a white layering tank top. I wanted to get something wine colored, but either I didn't like what I saw, it was too expensive, or they were out of my size, so I didn't end up getting anything. Hopefully, a store will have something discounted for Black Friday.

2. Technically, this has nothing to do with this week, but oh well. A week or two ago, I created a group board on Pinterest. This group board is for various bloggers to pin either their outfits or outfits that give them inspiration. It is meant to give each other style inspiration. You can see it here. If you would like to join the group board, all you have to do is email me at mybowsandclothes@gmail.com with your Pinterest username telling me you want to join. I would love it if you joined! So far, just a couple of bloggers are pinning alongside me.

3. Yesterday, I co-hosted Thursday Fashion Files for Carrie and Jill. You can see that post here. Also, I am co-hosting Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me for Rachel on Tuesday. Be sure to come back on Tuesday to check that out!

4. The weather has been so nice lately. It has been around 75 degrees, and the sun has been shining bright. As I am writing this, I am sitting outside and there is not a cloud in the sky. It is delightful! :)

2015 Scarf Swap Reveal + Thursday Fashion Files Link Up

Happy Thursday! I am so excited because today is the reveal for the Fall Scarf Swap that I participated in this year. Also, I am co-hosting Thursday Fashion Files for Carrie and Jill. Here's how the swap worked: I got a partner on September 22, I made contact with her and we emailed back and forth about the type of scarf that we would like to receive. Then, I bought her a scarf and sent it to her. A few days later, I received my package in the mail.

My partner was named Megan. Megan does not have a blog, but she tells me that she loves to read them. I told her that I like surprises and told her the type of scarf that I wanted. She is so sweet and I really enjoyed emailing back and forth with her. Also, I loved shopping for the perfect scarf. In the package that I sent her, I included a berry colored infinity scarf, a silver and gold bracelet, and an EOS lip balm. I wanted to give her just a little bit more than a scarf.

Here is what I received in the package that she sent me:

I got this scarf gorgeous scarf that I can't wait to wear. . .

. . . and I got a letter from her explaining why she picked the scarf out for me.

Thanks so much, Megan, for this scarf and the letter! I absolutely love it! You did such a great job choosing the perfect scarf! Here is one of the many ways that I will wear this scarf:

Have Courage and Be Kind: What Courage Means to Me

Today, I am going to talk about courage. Courage is something that I have struggled with for a while. I used to be pretty introverted, and could be quite passive at times, so courage really wasn't one of my strong qualities.  In one of my favorite movies, Cinderella, Cinderella's mother reminds her to have courage and be kind. Kindness wasn't a very difficult quality for me, but courage is a different story.

Over the past few years, I have grown a lot and have become a good bit more courageous. I am almost completely extroverted, considerably less passive, and so much better at making decisions and taking risks.

As I've grown, I have realized what courage really means. To me courage means. .  .
  • Standing up for what you believe in even if you are alone, and even if people think you are crazy.
  • Being able--through God--to withstand ANY difficulty without fear.
  • Taking risks without too much fear.
  • Continuing to press on in the midst of difficulty.
  • Even when you are scared, keeping on through fear.
Courage is most definitely something that I am still working on. Defining what I believe courage means, really helps me to live it out.

What does courage mean to you? How do you define courage? Do you have a story when you were courageous? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

See where I link up here.
