Eye Catchers: Fall Trends

UPDATE: Sorry, it is kind of hard to read. Something is wrong with my computer. I am hoping to try to fix this, but sorry for now!!

Eye Catchers is a new thing that I am starting. It is a post compiled of all of the clothing items or accessories that are either popular, ones I really like right now, or things that have caught my eye lately. Here's my first edition:

Eye Catchers 1. cognac booties, puffer vest, oversized cardigans, gingham button downs, blanket scarves

1. Cognac Booties
Ankle boots and booties in general have become very popular, but I find myself a little more drawn to cognac or brown ones. I love these because they have enough of a heel, but it is not too tall. I also love how the buckles add some interest.
2. Puffer Vests
I have seen vests EVERYWHERE, but especially puffer or quilted vests. Vests aren't really my cup of tea, but I kind of like this one. Another reason why I do not really where vests is because it's not too cold here, but cold enough for a jacket. And, I'd just rather where a jacket. All that said, this one is growing on me a little.

3. Oversized Cardigans
Oversized cardigans are the best because they are so comfy and warm! I love how they are popular now because they feel like you are wearing pajamas. I like this one and this one because they are simple and versatile enough to wear them many different ways.

4. Gingham Button Downs
I have seen gingham button downs the most layered under vests and sweaters. Button downs are my favorite layering piece, but gingham ones are even better. This one is nice because it is a medium sized print. Not too bold and not too tiny. I also like it because it is black and white, and that makes it very remixable. (not really a word, but you know what I mean).

5. Blanket Scarves
Blanket scarves are a lot like oversized cardigans in that they feel like you are wearing pj's. Which is my favorite. Looking cute, and feeling comfy and cozy? That's a win in my book. I chose this one and this one because I see this pattern and these colors the most. I like them because they can go with lots of stuff. You can pattern mix with them, or just wear a simple neutral outfit. The first one also comes in lots of different colors.

Neutral Basics
And the last eye catcher is neutral basics. All of the Street Style looks that I have seen have mostly neutral basics. I think that neutral basics are mandatory because they are neutral. And basics. :)
That's all! I hope you found this helpful. What is one trend that keeps catching your eye? And which one of these Eye Catchers is your favorite?

New Years Goals and Ideas

new years goals and ideas

The new year is quickly approaching, so I have been really thinking about goals to set for the new year. I have never really wrote resolutions. Rather, I have, the past few years, wrote down and set goals instead.

The reason why I do not set resolutions is because they are usually all about losing weight and other stuff like that. They usually don't last because people make them so difficult to achieve.

I like to set goals that are fairly easy to achieve, and that are about things that interest me, or  things that take up much of my time so that I can actually attain them.

Last year I decided to set goals that concern reading, sewing, my relationship with God, running, and things on my Bucket List because those were things that I was (and still am) passionate about.

At the beginning of this year I resolved to make a Thankfulness Jar. A Thankfulness Jar is a jar that you put pieces of paper in, on which you have written things that you are thankful for, or high points in your life. You can read more about it here where my sister wrote about hers.

I also have goals for this blog. I am not going to share them yet, but am so excited to! They will be along the lines of improving this blog, and adding monthly round-ups and such.

Other ideas are: just making sure to be a better person, reading the Bible in a year, organizing your house, setting out to remix your wardrobe and stop wearing the same outfits over again, deciding not to shop for a year, etc.

I hope that you found this helpful, and hope that you have some goals to make this next year even better than the last!

Ankle Boots: Target (similar, similar)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (kind-of similar)
Purse: Amazon (similar, similar)

I named this "edgy cute" because I feel like the bottom half looks really edgy and biker-ish, but the top half looks really simple and sweet. This outfit is mostly made up of Christmas gifts, so I have been itching to wear it.

This outfit would be pretty simple and boring without the purse and necklace, but with just a few pops of color it looks put together and interesting. I didn't originally wear my jean jacket, but added it because I thought that it might look cute. If I was to wear this outfit again, I probably will not wear my jean jacket with it because it doesn't fit exactly how I like it, and it does not get very cold here.

This outfit is pretty easy to create because it starts with just a few basics. Add accessories, and your good to go!

This is probably now my go-to outfit! What is one of your go-to outfits? What are your favorite pops of color?

Jeans: Old Navy (exact)
Boots: (similar, similar)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (exact, similar)

If you weren't here yesterday, I posted Part one of this two part casual holiday outfit series. Check it out right here.

Sorry about the poor quality of pictures and awful scenery. It was pouring torrential downpours yesterday.

This outfit is most likely the one that I am going to wear on Christmas Day. Our Christmas is usually pretty casual. I was going to wear a maxi skirt with chambray shirt and red jewelry, but I decided to wear that for Christmas Sunday, instead. Sorry, no pictures. :(

This is the first time that I wore this necklace. I wasn't sure if I would have anything to go with it in the store, but I bought it anyway. I'm not sure why I was not sure if I would have anything to wear it with because, hello, it's a neutral! Sometimes I can be a little indecisive about some things. Just a little.

I also wasn't sure what shoes to wear with this outfit. I was thinking about black booties, black long boots, or these. Like I said yesterday, I don't usually like to wear red and green together, so the red boots were out. I finally decided on these because I like brown with gold better than black with gold, and these are comfier.

I love this out fit because it is casual enough, but the jewelry adds a little bit of holiday glam. The green sweater is not really Christmas green, but it is close enough to be festive.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family!!

Casual Holiday Style Part 1

Hello from my dog Riley!

Casual Holiday Outfit. Grey tunic sweater, black leggings, red boots.
Sweater: Kohl's (similar, similar)
Leggings: Target (similar, similar)
Boots: Shoe Department (similar, similar)

I decided to post this outfit today because I thought it looked sort of Christmas-ish. I am also going to post another outfit tomorrow of another casual holiday outfit. So, don't for get to stop by tomorrow!

I do not have many red, or  green, or any other holiday colored clothes, so I have to make do with what I have. I have one red shirt, one green sweater, and red jewelry. That's it. Crazy, right?

I also don't really care to wear red and green together. I don't know why, I just don't. That does help with trying to stretch my few holiday clothes far, though.

Oh, and sorry about the awful boot choices. There is a fine line between classy red boots and ugly red boots. Apparently every shoe store in America only carries ugly ones because I could only find a few options for you. Instead of red boots you could wear red flats. Or, even red jewelry.

Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for another casual holiday outfit!

High Five For Friday

Happy Friday, everybody! How has your week been? I hope it has been great! Here's a little look on how mine has been:

  1. First off, there are only 6 days until Christmas! Aaaaahh, I'm so excited!
  2. Tomorrow is my sister and her twin brother's birthday, so we have a few fun things planned to celebrate them.
  3. I have officially finished making, buying, and wrapping all of my Christmas presents, so now I have nothing left to do concerning gifts.
  4. For the Christmas season I am reading all of the Christmas Hope books by Donna VanLiere. I read all of them last/this year, but not in order and not all before Christmas. I may not be able to read her new one The Christmas Light, but that's okay because I will have all but one of them read before Christmas, and that sort of completes my goal. By the way, they are very good!
  5. On Wednesday I went over to some friends' house and made gingerbread houses. It was fun! My family and I, and sometimes my friends and I, create gingerbread houses every year to help us get in the Christmas mood. So now it actually feels like Christmas since we have already made our gingerbread houses.

PS: I just really like Donna VanLiere and her books. I was not asked to review and was not compensated.

Palazzo Pants 3 Ways

A while back I got really interested in palazzo pants. I thought that they would be the perfect addition to my closet. For some reason, (maybe I couldn't find a pair that was cheap and cute enough for my taste), I never bought any. Aaaand I still don't have any. Laziness and pickiness (is that even a word?) for the win.
After totally removing palazzo pants from my mind, I have recently been itching for a pair again. But, since my wallet is empty, I will have to wait and pretend that I have some.
Here are some of the ways I would wear my palazzo pants [I know, I know, they aren't really wintery (here I go making up words again! hey, who cares.)]

Outfit #1

Palazzo Pants Outfit 1. Palazzo pants, yellow statement necklace, chambray shirt, black bow flats, pink purse
Pants: 6PM
Shoes: Forever 21
Necklace: Nordstrom Rack
Bag: Target

This is one of the more casual outfits. I love it because I love pretty much anything chambray. This outfit works because the chambray top keeps it casual while the shoes and bag keep it classy and a little bit on the fancier side. Oh, and i can not get enough of that bag!

Outfit #2

Palazzo Pants Outfit 2. Palazzo pants, white tee, jean jacket, blue flats, coral statement necklace.

Top: American Eagle
Pants: 6PM
Shoes: Modcloth
Jacket: Old Navy
Necklace: Forever 21

This outfit I would probably wear the most because it's so easy, but the bright colors, jean texture, and the busy-ish pattern of the pants keeps it interesting. (If you can't tell, there is a white tee on the upper right corner.)

Outfit #3

Palazzo Pants 3. Palazzo pants, grey blazer, teal blouse, black pumps, pink clutch, fancy statement necklace.

Top: Rosewe
Pants: 6PM
Blazer: Target
Shoes: Modcloth
Necklace: Target
Clutch: Overstock

This outfit is the fanciest one of the three. I don't usually wear heels because of my stupid feet problems, so I would just wear it with flats. I think that this outfit has my favorite color combination right now.

Hope this helped if you have or want to get palazzo pants. I know that after remixing these I want some really bad!

Lavender and Grey

Sweater: Kohl's (very similar, similar)
Leggings: Wal-Mart (similar)
Scarf: Target (similar, similar)
Booties: Target (similar, similar)

The first time I wore this outfit I wore it to pack Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes into cartons and then onto a giant semi truck. I know. Over-dressed much, you think. Everyone else said that too, so it's okay.  I'm always over-dressed, so I'm pretty used to those looks of  "what in the world is she wearing that for" looks. Yeah, you know what I mean.

Okay let's get to the outfit.

One of the reason why I love this outfit is because it is the comfiest outfit I have ever worn. Like, EVER! I also love my ankle boots. The color combination is great, too.
(Oh, and, my hand in that first pic, though.)

Enough of my rambling...

Peace out.

This is one of my winter go-to outfits because it is really warm, but still cute and not too "bundled up". I also love it because it is an all-neutral outfit, but it is still interesting because of the leopard print and the different textures.

The first time I wore this, I was on a retreat. I knew that I would need something really extra warm, so I whipped this up. It is probably my favorite outfit right now!

High Five For Friday

High Five For Friday is where I will post every Friday about the five high points of my week. I will try to post one every week.

  1. Today, I got some stuff done so that now I have a LOT more time to do blog stuff, cleaning, Christmas preparations, and just REST!
  2. I am so excited because tomorrow my sister and I will be taking outfit pictures for our blogs, so I will be posting some outfit inspirations for you soon. :)
  3. I went Black Friday shopping last Friday, and it was so much fun! I got a all of my Christmas shopping done. I also got some good deals on clothes for myself.
  4. The weather has been crazy around here. Monday, it was 69 degrees! In December!! Even though I love the warm weather, I actually want fall/winter weather. Now I am hoping that this warm front will blow out soon.
  5. We also put up our Christmas decorations last Friday and Saturday, so I am really in the Christmas mood!

Hope you had a good week!

Getting In The Swing of Things

So I still have to get in the swing of things with this blog, which means that I may not be in the exact posting schedule that I am planning on implementing. So it might be a little slow around here for a little while. Although, I am hoping to post an outfit post at least twice a week, and post a "High Five For Friday" post that I will link up every Friday at The Lauren Elizabeth

I hope that I will be starting a good schedule soon, but we will just have to see how my week goes.

Hope you have a good rest of the weekend and week (if I don't post).

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! This year my my mom is really going all out with the food. I am so ready to eat my weight in food! And, believe me, I will! I hope you and your family have a very wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy your food and family!
