Two Ways to Wear a Black & White Pencil Skirt + A Coupon Code!

Happy Monday! I hope that y'all had a really great weekend! Mine was super nice!

On Friday, I mentioned that I won a giveaway from byBMG. Well, today, I wanted to show y'all two ways that I have styled the skirt that I won:

Top: c/o Brandzaffair
Flats: Target (similar, similar)
Watch: Charming Charlie (similar, similar)

This outfit is super, super comfy. A lot of people don't know how to properly mix patterns. This outfit is a great example of a really easy trick that I use for pattern mixing: Make sure that the patterned pieces have at least one color in common. Your outfit will look more put-together when the patterned pieces share a color or two.

Top: Old Navy (similar, similar)
Skirt: Sweetly Made by MJ
Shoes: Target (similar, similar)
Jacket: Old Navy (similar, similar)
Purse: Ross (similar, similar)

Both of these looks are outfits that I would wear (and most of the time have worn) because I try as best as I can to keep this blog real. That being said, I feel most comfortable in outfits like the one above that are more casual and relaxed.

Can I just say how amazing this skirt is?! Firstly, it is handmade which is always a plus. Secondly, it is super comfortable and has a good bit of stretch. And lastly, the print and fit is oh-so-amazing. I could go on and on about this skirt!

Guess what?! I have great news for you! You can get free shipping on any order from now until April 30th! The code is: SPRINGFREE. Help Monique celebrate her 100th sale by purchasing a skirt today!

What are your thoughts?

Happy Wednesday, y'all! Today, I am linking up with some of my blogger friends: Tif at Bright on a Budget, Jaclyn at Beauty and the Binky, Rachel at Garay Treasures, Becky at BYBMG, Alyssa and Tracy at Glitter + Ruffles, and Jill at Doused in Pink for their Colored Pants Party Link-up. They will be having a How I Style It link-up every month. Be sure to check that out!

This is how I style colored pants. I usually like to go all neutral, or mostly neutral so that the pants can shine with all of their bright, beautiful glory. Other, very rare times, I go bold and wear a color that is bright and on the opposite side of the color wheel.

While I like wearing lots of bright colors, I feel that I am somewhat outgrowing wearing lots of bright colors in one outfit. Recently, I am loving pastels, and all neutral outfits. I feel that they (meaning all neutral outfits) look chic and put together, and that they make a statement while still being understated. Now, this does not mean that I will completely outgrow lots of bright colors. Rather, I may even grow back into them, but right now I'm really feeling pops of color, and not tons of color in one outfit.

I love wearing my colored pants, and you will definitely see these in the near future. :)

How do YOU style colored pants? Be sure to hop over to one (or more) of the co-hosts to see how everyone else styled theirs!

In this post, I told y'all that I would be (hopefully) posting some outfits with nude heels since I had just gotten my first pair. Well, that was over a month ago, and I still haven't posted any outfits yet (besides today, of course). Truth is, this is the only way that I have worn them. I guess I have been waiting for it to warm up. Then, other things like rain, and me deciding to wear other outfits instead of the ones that I said I couldn't wait to wear here, permitted me from wearing them. I also think that I kind of forgot about them! Oops! Oh, well! Here's to wearing them more often. :)

On another note, I will be posting my Favorite.... Beauty Products tomorrow. You don't want to miss it! Also, every other Thursday, I will post something else that is my favorite. For instance: favorite shoes, favorite free apps, favorite kinds of pants, favorite ways to add color to my outfits, etc. Here are the ones that I have already posted: Favorite.... Purses, Favorite.... Jewelry, Favorite.... Completer Pieces, and My Spring Wish List.

Happy Thursday! Hope your week has been great and hope your weekend will be greater!

I have been following Audrey at Putting Me Together for a good while now and love her blog! When I saw that she was doing weekly style challenges, I jumped at the opportunity. I love challenges and have really been enjoying these.

This weeks style challenge was to copy an outfit that you have pinned. I usually only pin outfits that have a piece similar to the one that I own, so this challenge was not very hard. I copied this pin.

I love this outfit because it keeps me very warm. It has been so cold lately, so these layers keep me nice and toasty. I also really like these colors! It's monochromatic and complementary colors! :)

What is your favorite thing about this outfit?

Happy Monday! Most of the people that I know went back to school today, so that really signifies that Christmas is over. I always dread the end of the Christmas season, but lately I've been finding myself excited for the start of this  year, and not wanting to hold on as tightly as I usually do to the Christmas season. Don't get me wrong, I really do believe that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year: I just feel like it's time to move on. I guess that's kind of my goal for this year. Moving on. Growing up. Forgetting what's behind and straining toward what's ahead. Sounds great, doesn't it?

I hope and pray that by God's sweet grace that you will fulfill the goals that you have set for yourself this year just as much as I hope that I will fulfill mine. I want you to know that you, reader, are greatly appreciated!

Now, after all this mushy stuff, on to the outfit:

I love this outfit because the colors go so well together. Coral and blue is one of my all time favorite color combinations. They just go so well together. This color combination is probably the most worn out of all of the color combinations I can make out of my closet. I think that I  wear it the most because I have so much of it. I probably should branch out of my color combination comfort zone, but I have just been wanting to go back to the basics of my closet lately. Some might call it laziness, but I call it ... well... I don't know what I call it, yet but come back later and I might have a name for it soon. :)

I guess that getting out of my color comfort zone, and trying new outfits is a goal for 2015, too. I will definitely be trying to branch out and try new ways to wear my clothes. How about we do this together?

What is your color combination comfort zone? And how are you going to try to branch out of it?
